We don't know what really happened, if he died or he just left the house.
His family, maybe his sister or his brother, they just left his stuff in
the basement while someone else in his family was living here. Whatever
happened, his stuff was left here for a long time. They sold the house
and it was just still here, because they didn't care about it.
We heard all sort of weird things, that someone left the house in a really
bad condition, and the city shut the building off. The woman who owns the
house also said that his sister was a mortician, and that she had her
mortuary in the basement as well. We don't know the order of any events,
of anything, that's part of the whole weird history that we have to figure out.
I think that this stuff happened in the eighties or around.
We're assuming that he died from a brain related thing, we found his
brain scans in the basement.
There's all the cabinets that have his things on them. Everybody knows a
different area of it. There was a lot of his patent applications, an also
a lot of folders from the atomic energy commission, labeled secret, with
government wax seals.
And there's the teeth photos. We guess it's some kind of research about
fluorescence, or radiaoctivity, on teeth. The pictures seem like they were
taken with some kind of odd light on them.
He had a bunch of books like "Why Smash Atoms?" and a lot of medical books,
maybe they were his sister's. The house owners threw out a lot of books.
He was a graduate of Reed College, and some people from Reed aparently took
what they thought was good from his stuff. The basement was full of jars of
chemicals, paint, stuff, parts. But they took all of them out of here.
There was also some radiaoctive stuff behind a wall.
This woman came to check if there was radiation. Kate asked if anybody
know someone who had a geiger counter, and she came and did the whole
place and didn't find it and we said "check this weird place here" and
it was "tttttrrrrrrrrrr", and we said "oh-oh". It was just some powder and
she said it was some weak kind of radioactivity.
The landlady told all us little bits and we haven't sat and put them
together. I don't know even where she got all these stories. There's
still lots of questions.
