Parque da Redenção (Redemption Park)

The Redemption is the widest and biggest green area of Porto Alegre, with almost 40ha of trees and lawn. Besides these rest places, there are also sport fields, small lakes and a mini-zoo.

The park began its story as a cattle storage and a rest place for travelers in the middle of the 19th century. It gets the aspect we know today from 1935 on, after an exposition celebrating the first hundret years of the Farroupilha Revolution.
