Corn makes a great support for climbing beans, and the beans fix nitrogen in the soil that the corn needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blue corn and bayo bean seeds I planted came from Mexico, where there is an old tradition of planting crops together in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Milpa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">milpa<\/a>. Nutritionally speaking, beans and corn complement each other and provide a varied source of protein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the corn already shooting up while the bean is making its first leaves.
