It may seem strange to assign gender to a city, but for me Porto Alegre is female, and she has a soul. She is temperamental and whimsical, cosmopolitan and provincial at the same time, keeping her modest habits but always keeping pace with the rythm of our time. Being a metropolis, she is naturally neurotic, self-assured and pressing. At the same time, village she is, ashamed, simple, amenable.
