Something drastic seems to have happened to the wasps…
Something drastic seems to have happened to the wasps that built a nest inside one of our planter boxes. We were actually looking into resettling them, but now we don’t see them coming in and out like before. We saw only one or two at the end of the afternoon and they looked very weak, there is even a dead one on top of the box. Meanwhile, lots of flies are around the box. So I’m guessing maybe a small animal got in and died? And this caused the wasps to leave, or become sick? Who knows, in any case we are not opening it. Let’s wait for the winter to do that. By then any wasps should be gone anyway and any dead animal should be dried up. Even though it seems the wasp “problem” solved itself I feel a wee bit sad with this “solution”. But oh well, nature takes its course and now we know better than to build cozy boxes and not think about what can get inside them…
